The nematode is the most diverse creature in nature. Therefore, I thought it only appropriate to name this versatile device after this flexible life-form. The Nematode Notebook is a variation of my other Bug Notebooks which are Impression capturing devices, yet it isn’t an Impression device at all. Rather, it uses my propretary technology as a means to switch information.

Here's the scoop: Audience members write on the first page of the notebook. When you close the cover, the top page of the notebook completely disappears, revealing whatever is written on the second page. Therefore, the next time you or an audience member opens the pad, the audience writing has been switched for your writing, and no clue remains where the switched-out page went. Not only is it out of sight, it's locked safely away where audience members can't get to it.
The gimmick is built into the front cover, so there's no need to turn the pad over or manipulate it in any way. As soon as you close the cover, the work is done. Resetting for subsequent performances is very easy. You discard the used sheet and re-attach another to the gimmick with reusable adhesive gluestick.
Since the Nematode is in its simplest application a switching device, you can not only switch out written information but billets, index cards, business cards, and any other flat object. Therefore, this device combines the features of a locking cardbox and locking spirit slates in an ordinary notepad.
I construct these from notepads bought at Staples for ease of refilling. I paint the covers satin black finish to match the gimmick.
